Choosing location

What if the photoshoot is not in a studio or in office with a plain background? You will need to think of the location. Unless you aleady have something in mind, of course, I will help you to choose. But you will need to decide on the style of the pictures first.

Here are some tips that might help you:

  • Choose a meaningful place – is there a special place that holds high significance for you, and that would be a great place for your photoshoot?
  • Privacy – since most of the sites are public places, the level of privacy is limited. If you are OK with people walking around and being curious – great – any public place is good for the shoot. If not – we might need to find a place with less people and more privacy.
  • Check the weather ahead and think of a possible change of location (or at least a shelter) in case if the weather decieds to spoil the photoshoot.
  • Don’t let the location distract – keep in minf that YOU are the main subject and the chosen location should not overpower the scene. I can always give you my opinion about it since I will be the one standing on the other side of the camera, and can see things you might not able to see.
  • What it means for you – the more difficult it is to access the chosen location, the more expensive a photoshoot tend to be. What it means for me – knowing about the location accessibility in advance will help me to determine which gear to prepare for the photoshoot.
  • Keep in mind that some places require a permit for a phtoshoot. So, it’s always better to check ahead of time.
